I retired March
04, 2009. What files are left on this site will remain forever.
The site is free so therefore no sense in removing something that
so many enjoy. I will not however be updating anything especially
due to the fact that I do not have access to BNSF any longer.
I ended up with 40 years and 4 months paid into Railroad Retirement.
That makes a very good pension that I can live with. 35 of those
years was working as an engineer on the Marceline Subdivision.
I enjoyed every minute of it but grew very tired of this new railroad.
Changes are not for me as they were not for the railroaders in
the generation ahead of me. The BNSF is rich beyond their wildest
dreams but I constantly missed the Santa Fe. When I hired out
as a fireman we were taught to keep em going fast and no delays.
In fact, they would call one up on the carpet for delaying certain
trains. But make no mistake, the Santa Fe had it's ups and downs
like any other railroad.
So, I feel that
it is the time to say goodbye. This site kept me in contact with
so many employees that it became quite enjoyable. My deceased
wife even kept after me to keep it up to date. She tried her luck
at updating but I nagged her so badly about quality that she told
me to shove it up my butt. I guess I deserved that.
